The Mystical Bloom of The World Largest Flower

Gunung Gading is home to the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia, which can grow up to one meter in diameter. When in bloom the flower gives off nasty smell which attracts flies and other insects. The Rafflesia has no specific season, taking nine months to mature and flowering for only 4 or 5 days before dying. Gunung Gading also has some enjoyable walks and challenging jungle treks.

In the morning depart from the hotel in the city to commence a fullday trip to Gunung Gading National Park. The tour will start with a drive from Kuching city for about 1.5 hours to Gunung Gading National Park. At the registration, you will discover if the Gods have been kind to you..whether today, there is a Rafflesia in bloom. Then you will proceed through the park, and hopefully along one of these thick jungle trails, there will be a Rafflesia hiding, biding you to get a closer look. Your guide/park guide will explain about the plant life at this park to you. Local lunch will be at Lundu Town before return to hotel.

Tour Informations

Tour Codes: EGH/K29

Expected Duration: 6-7 Hours

Remark: We cannot guarantee a blooming Rafflesia at all time. If a Rafflesia can be seen at the Park, the group first will proceed to the location of this Rafflesia and have their time to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience before we will continue with the Waterfall Trail.

Wake up to the sounds of gibbons and hornbills in the rainforest. After a quick bite, we will set out for a short morning hike.

Immerse yourself in the surroundings while getting your heart racing as we visit Ground Cuckoo hide to photograph one of Borneo’s endemic birds and other birdlife found in the area. Thereafter, return to the lodge to freshen up before enjoying a scrumptious breakfast at Kapur Restaurant.

Following breakfast, if weather and sea conditions permit, we’ll embark on a river cruise adventure along the coastline, venturing into the Segama River and its mangrove forest. Keep your eyes peeled for a chance in wildlife encounters, such as flying foxes, eagles, and dolphins.

Head back to the lodge to relax and refresh before a hefty lunch.
Post-lunch, go on for a rainforest hike where you’ll visit our Mammal Hide. There, you’ll be able to see the camera traps that we have set up and see the many footage we have captured whilst learning about the nocturnal animals in the area. Have light refreshments in the hide before we return to the lodge for free at leisure.

Explore our lodge further at the information gallery, shop for souvenirs, savour our premium in-house beverages at the restaurant and take a dip in our dip pool to beat the heat.

When the sun sets, tantalise your taste buds with a delicious dinner, and proceed to head out for a night safari drive around the lodge. Experience the serenity of the night and keep an eye out for nocturnal creatures like civets, leopard cats, mouse deer, and moonrats that rule the night. Return to the lodge for a good night’s rest.

Rise and shine to the sounds of the jungle and make your way to our Crested Fireback hide and seek out this elusive endemic bird. Return for a hearty breakfast and enjoy your time free at leisure.

Make sure to stop by the souvenir corner for some last-minute shopping and take one last quick dip in our plunge pool before check-out.
Have an early lunch before departing to the airport for your late afternoon flight.
