Itinerary

Your adventure begins with an airport pickup and a quick stop at the office for check-in. Then, embark on a 2.5-hour overland journey to reach our new ecolodge; Tabin Rainforest Lodge, featuring 12 air-conditioned rooms, located on the northeast corner of Tabin Wildlife Reserve.

Indulge in our rooms with en suite bathrooms and heated showers, as well as our covered restaurant and open deck, dip pool, and not forgetting our bar and gift corner.

Upon arrival, receive a warm welcome with a facility briefing followed by a delectable lunch and check-in thereafter.

Dive into Tabin Rainforest’s world of flora and fauna during an introductory walk around the lodge. As the day unfolds, embark on a sunset river cruise for wildlife encounters and a mesmerising estuary sunset. If weather permits, you may witness a captivating summertime light show courtesy of fireflies as you make your way back to the lodge for dinner.

After dinner, go on a night safari drive for a chance to encounter the nocturnal wildlife that surrounds our forest.

Wake up to the sounds of gibbons and hornbills in the rainforest. After a quick bite, we will set out for a short morning hike. Immerse yourself in the surroundings while getting your heart racing as we visit Ground Cuckoo hide to photograph one of Borneo’s endemic birds and other birdlife found in the area. Thereafter, return to the lodge to freshen up before enjoying a scrumptious breakfast at Kapur Restaurant.

Following breakfast, if weather and sea conditions permit, we’ll embark on a river cruise adventure along the coastline, venturing into the Segama River and its mangrove forest. Keep your eyes peeled for a chance in wildlife encounters, such as flying foxes, eagles, and dolphins.

Head back to the lodge to relax and refresh before a hefty lunch.
Post-lunch, go on for a rainforest hike where you’ll visit our Mammal Hide. There, you’ll be able to see the camera traps that we have set up and see the many footage we have captured whilst learning about the nocturnal animals in the area. Have light refreshments in the hide before we return to the lodge for free at leisure.

Explore our lodge further at the information gallery, shop for souvenirs, savour our premium in-house beverages at the restaurant and take a dip in our dip pool to beat the heat.

When the sun sets, tantalise your taste buds with a delicious dinner, and proceed to head out for a night safari drive around the lodge. Experience the serenity of the night and keep an eye out for nocturnal creatures like civets, leopard cats, mouse deer, and moonrats that rule the night.

Return to the lodge for a good night’s rest.

Rise and shine to the sounds of the jungle and make your way to our Crested Fireback hide and seek out this elusive endemic bird. Return for a hearty breakfast and enjoy your time free at leisure. Make sure to stop by the souvenir corner for some last-minute shopping and take one last quick dip in our plunge pool before check-out.

Have an early lunch before departing to the airport for your late afternoon flight.

Food will be simple, healthy and organic. Expect lots of rice and wonderful jungle vegetables such as jungle fern and wild ginger flower. Food is collected from the forest and in addition to the vegetables there will quite likely be forest meat which is still the main source of protein for the people here. Baths and showers are often taken in rivers and waterfalls(bio-degradable soap to a minimum), however some houses may have a room for washing, with bucket showers. Your hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming and you will be very comfortable and well looked after. The Penan people make some of the best quality and beautifully designed rattan baskets and mats in Sarawak, and as a memento of your trip there is no better place to buy.
