In the morning depart from your hotel in the city to commence a Full day rafting program. Be your own captain in a bamboo raft and rafting through class II water. Heart 2 Heart with Orang utan is a one (1) day program which gives participants a closer look to behind the scene orangutan conservation work. The program starts with briefing on the conservation program in a “Get to know” session before proceeding for a guided tour of the Wildlife center.

They will be introducing and assigned tasks and areas of responsibilities or duties which include cages cleaning, food preparations for orang utans, orang utan enrichment program, assisting in related research and education or other tasks will be assigned to each participant. At the end of the day a Heart 2 Heart Participation Certificate will be issued to acknowledge their contributions to the Centre’s activities.

In the morning depart from your hotel in the city to commence a Full day trip to Bako National Park, a scenic drive this morning will bring you to Bako Fishing Village Jetty, where you will board an exciting motorized boat ride takes you to marvel at the abundant natural beauty of Sarawak's most popular National Park.

Trek along the trails to spot wildlife in its natural surroundings including the proboscis monkeys, the monitor lizards, bearded pigs, silver leaf of monkeys and more than one hundred species of birds. The stunning tropical rainforest ranges from the mangrove swamp forest to kerangas (health forest) to cliff and beach vegetations.

Exotic plants found along the trails include the several species of pitcher plants and wild orchids. You may end your trekking at a beautiful secluded beach. Local lunch will be served in the Park's canteen. After lunch you will have your time to explore the wildlife and vegetation around the Parks Headquarter on your own or take a walk together with your guide along one of the other short trails around the Headquarter. After tour return to hotel.

Evening Mangrove Wildlife Cruise

You will meet your guide in the hotel and drive approximately 30-40mins where you will board a boat which will bring you for a 25 minutes ride along the Coastline to the Mangroves of Sarawak. Explore the Riverine Mangrove Forest on a slow drive through the narrow passages.

Borneo is the only place in the world where a rare primate species, the Proboscis Monkeys, live. It lives in mangrove forest of the coastal area and riverine forest on the lower reaches of major rivers. Once a group of Proboscis monkeys is sighted take your time to watch these animals in their natural habitat.

Shortly before darkness we will leave the mangrove forest to experience the beautiful sunset. We will enter the mangroves once more in darkness. This slow boat ride through the mangrove forest will offer a rare opportunity to see the wild crocodiles of the river. Use torch lights to find the reflection of crocodile eyes in the water and on land. Enjoy the sound of the Mangroves in the night and search for Fireflies.

Fireflies are soft bodied beetles which sizes range from 5 to 25 millimeters in length. On the underside of the abdomen, it has special light organs that glows in luminous flashes. These amazing animals can be found along the trees of the riverine mangrove forest and will light some trees up like a Christmas tree. After tour, return to hotel.

You will meet your guide in the hotel and drive approximately 30-40mins where you will board a boat which will bring you for a 25 minutes ride along the Coastline to the Mangroves of Sarawak. Somewhere near the mount of Santubong, Salak Rivers, the Irrawaddy Dolphin (rare and unusual mammals) are quite easy spotted during dry season from April to October but less sightings during the wet season.

You will stop at the river mouth for a approximate 45 minutes ride in search for the Irrawaddi (or Snubfin) Dolphins. Observe the dolphins while they swimming around the boats of the local fishermen in search for food. After this fascinating experience, proceed with the boat along the mangrove forest in search for Saltwater Crocodiles which can sometimes be seen on the Riverbank. After the tour return to hotel.

Itinerary

0830hrs pick-up from hotel’s lobby and start your journey for 2D/1N Batang Ai Iban Longhouse Tour. Start
your journey to Batang Ai, along the Pan Borneo Highway, passing through the beautiful sceneries of rural
villages, towns and gardens of pepper, rubber and rice fields. You will travel 275 km by road, with a few stops
along the way: the first stop is in Serian town, where you will stop for refreshments (own expenses). You may
wish to make some last minutes shopping for insect repellent or for gifts for the Ibans at Serian.

 

You can also visit a fascinating native fruit and vegetable market. The last stop will be at “Lachau”, a small upcountry
Chinese village, where you will stop for lunch. (Here barter trade still exists between the natives of Kalimantan, the
Chinese shop owners and the natives of Sarawak). After lunch, proceed to the final stage of the journey and
arrive at the beautiful Batang Ai Lake. Here you will board native longboat approximately 45 minutes and travel
up the river to an Iban Longhouse. On arrival at Iban Longhouse, you will be taken for a tour around the
longhouse to meet the natives and their families.

 

Dinner will be served at one of the family rooms. After dinner,
the Ibans will sound their gongs and perform their traditional warrior and maiden dance in full ceremonial
regalia with the longhouse’s chief and folk. Rice Wine “Tuak” will be served. Overnight spent in the Longhouse
with mattress/mosquito-nets/pillow (very basic accommodation).

Breakfast at the longhouse. 0900hrs trekking to upriver accompanied by Iban trackers. Go thru the rainforest, hill and streams, find jungle vegetable, wild fruits herbs, etc.

Proceed by longboat to picnic area. Native style lunch will be served by the riverbank. After lunch, return to the longhouse. Dinner will be served at the longhouse. Overnight.
Breakfast at the longhouse. 0900hrs, the Iban people will give you a presentation with their traditional weapon, the blowpipe.
After the blowpipe presentation, depart from longhouse by longboat to Batang Ai jetty and return to Kuching city via the same route with a stopover for lunch and after lunch transferring back to your hotel in city.

Things You Should Know :

* It is compulsory that life jackets (provided) be worn at all times during boat trips.

* For boats trip you are recommended to put your personal belonging in a small backpack/sling pack and it is
advise-able to put all yours belonging under a plastic wrap.

The name Kalimantan which is often spelled Klemantan was derived from Sanskrit word “Kalamanthana” which means "burning weather island", or island with a very hot temperature to describe its hot and humid tropical climate because it’s located right at the equator.

Itinerary

Early morning at 6:30am, meet at Kuching Sentral and depart by overland to Pontianak, capital of Kalimantan. Journey takes about 6-7 hrs with stopover at Serian, a small town for a short break; Tebedu/Entikong for immigration check and Ngabang for lunch (own expenses).

Proceed for a stopover at Mandor Struggle Cemetery where more than twenty thousand native freedom fighters were killed and buried during WWII. Pass by small townships like Pinyuh and Mempawa before arriving at Pontianak by late afternoon. Check in at Kini or similar class hotel. In the evening, have dinner followed by shopping and opt for a night out. Overnight in the hotel. (Dinner)
Breakfast in the hotel. Morning – proceed for sightseeing in Pontianak, capital of West Kalimantan, founded in 1771. Places of interest include the Museum, Bamboo Monument, Market, Kadariah Palace, and shopping with lunch included.

In the evening, have seafood dinner at the famous Kakap Seafood Centre followed by shopping tour of the Fruit Market. Overnight in the hotel. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

After breakfast in the hotel, depart for a day trip to Singakawang, a Chinese dominated town. Journey takes about 3 hrs with stopover at Kura Kura Beach renowned for its turtle landing beaches, Pasir Panjang Beach and the Equator Monument before arriving at Singakawang.


A visit at Tri Dharma Bumi Raya Temple, very unique temple acts as a road divider in Singakawang and one of the oldest temple established in 1878, Marga Tjhia House authentic traditional house built in more than 100 years ago. Have lunch at a local restaurant before returning via the same way. In the evening, have dinner in yet another classic eatery. The tour starts with a journey to the Kuching’s Batu Lintang Interment Camp used to huddled the Allied prisoners of war (POWs) and Dutch civilians after the Japanese invasion of Malaysia in 1941. The camp was initially set up by the Japanese Imperial Army and became one of the most well-known internment sites in the region during the war. While the camp site is now converted into a National Teacher Training College, some remains are still holistic sites to behold as we assist you to explore the “Punjabi Barracks” building, the flagpole, an ammunition bunker of struggles including local heroes who sacrificed their lives.

From Batu Lintang, we shall head downtown to sightsee/visit our WWII Heroes Memorial Tablet (13 Garland Men), Air Raid Bunkers, Charles Brooke’s Memorial Tower (site of Heroes’ tributes). The tour concludes with a leisurely drive across the Sarawak River to visit Fort Margherita, where you’ll learn about its WWII significance followed by a Q&A session.
