Matang Wildlife Centre, situated approximately 35 kilometers from Kuching, is part of Kubah National Park and serves as a sanctuary for endangered species. The centre provides large, enclosed areas of rainforest and spacious cages, allowing these animals to thrive in a more natural environment. An informative centre with educational program in the sanctuary offers visitors the opportunity to learn about wildlife conservation. The highlight of the trip is focused on the Orang Utan training program, where these endangered species are rehabilitated and taught survival skills to help them adapt to live in the wild before being released back into the forest. Other animals found here include saltwater and freshwater crocodiles, pheasants, sun bears, civets, bearcats, macaques, gibbons, porcupines, deer, and various species of birds.
