Tanjung Datu National Park (3D2N)

The journey to Tanjung Datu will take approximately 2 hours drive to the small coastal town of Sematan. Enjoy lunch at a local coffee shop. After lunch, continue your journey to the Malay fishing village of Telok Melano, followed by a thrilling 15-20 minute speedboat ride to Tanjung Datu National Park. Upon arrival, check in at the Park Headquarters and settle into your basic Forest Hut accommodation.

(Note: Keep in mind that if the tide is low, you may need to disembark at a nearby small bay (Telok Upas) and walk for about 15-20 minutes to reach the Park HQ)

After settling in, proceed for a short walk on either the Telok Upas, Viewpoint or Belian trails. Return to the park HQ around 1600 hours. The rest of the day is at your own leisure, with dinner served at the park HQ. After dinner, embark on a short guided night walk in search of more wildlife such as wild boar, sambar deer, mouse deer, barking deer, civet cats and other nocturnal creatures. Return to the park. Your guide will notify you of any turtle nestlings spotted along the shore. You might witness the moment when the turtle starts to lay its eggs.

After breakfast, embark on an exciting jungle trek along the Pasir Antu Laut trail. This 2.7 km path offers stunning forest views, and you might even catch glimpses of gibbons, banded langurs, and hornbills. Midway along the trail, you’ll encounter a small stream. Take a short break before continuing through the pristine forest to Antu Laut beach. Enjoy a swim at the beach before heading back along the forest trail. Half way along the trail turn left onto a small track that leads to the main turtle beach. Here, you’ll find impressive huge boulders along the coast where the lush rainforest runs right down to the sandy shore of the beach. After a late lunch at the park HQ, feel free to explore the surrounding wildlife and vegetation nearby on your own or take a walk together with your guide on one of the shorter trails around the HQ area. Dinner at the park HQ.

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning relaxing on the beach or exploring park trails. In the afternoon, board a boat to Telok Melano followed by a scenic drive to Sematan for lunch at a local coffee shop before continuing your journey back to Kuching by road.
