Longhouse Safari Ex Sri Aman (2D/1N)

Depart from your hotel and embark on a memorable 2D/1N adventure to the legendary Batang Ai region, home of the indigenous Iban people and their traditional longhouses. Travel by road along the Pan Borneo Highway, taking in the beautiful sceneries of rural villages, towns, pepper gardens, rubber and rice fields over a distance of 275 km. Along the way, you’ll make your first stop in Serian, a small town where you can explore a native market and pick up some gifts for the longhouse folks (Guide will advise accordingly). Next stop will be at “Lachau”, a small upcountry Chinese village for lunch. Here barter trade still exists among native Kalimantan traders, the Chinese shop owners and the local villagers who lived nearby. Following lunch, you’ll check in at the Seri Simanggang Hotel (3*) located in Sri Aman town, with the rest of the day free for you to relax and explore at your own leisure. Overnight.

After breakfast, depart from the hotel and proceed to Batang Ai jetty (approximately 1.5hrs) where you will board the longboat with an amazing journey through the lake and the crystal-clear streams to visit the natives of Borneo. Upon arrival at the longhouse, you will be taken for a tour around the longhouse, to meet the natives and their families. The Ibans will then sound their gongs and perform their traditional Iban War Dance. Feel free to join in the fun, even if you don’t speak their language, and don’t miss the opportunity to taste their rice wine, “Tuak.” A native-style lunch will be served. Before heading back to Kuching, the Ibans will showcase their ancient weapon, the blowpipe, in an engaging demonstration. The tour concludes with another longboat ride across the lake and return to Kuching city via the same route. Arrive Kuching by late afternoon.
