Tour Details:

Day 1: Pick up from your hotel in the morning driven through country road for 6 hours over 275km passing by pepper, rubber and cocoa plantations amidst green mountainous scenery with 3 stops along the way – first at Serian, a small town to visit its native market and to buy some presents for the natives (Guide will advise); secondly for lunch and lastly at a pepper garden. Arrive at Batang Ai receiving jetty in mid afternoon where a motorized longboat awaits to take you through the scenic Batang Ai Blue Lake and upriver for 1 hour plus to an authentic longhouse. There you will see some 30 families living together under one roof in a 150-meter long longhouse with antique Chinese jars in most of these families’ rooms. In the evening, you will feast with the longhouse’s chief and folks with traditional dinner and cultural dances. Overnight in the longhouse. [Lunch & Dinner]

Day 2: Breakfast in the longhouse. Morning, proceed by longboat upriver through rapids to the upper reaches of Batang Ai. During dry periods, the water level can get quite low and visitors may have to help push their boats upstream – an adventurous experience. Stop along one of the river-banks for lunch with barbeque and local produces cooked in bamboo pots over bon-fire. Grab the chance to rejuvenate after lunch amidst the peaceful atmosphere of the tropical greens. Beyond the artificial lake, more than an hour’s boat ride upriver from the dam, visitors can see beautiful lowlands with mixed dipterocarp forest and drooping trees overhanging the river. River transport is the main mode of communication here. The river is fast flowing, clear and very refreshing. Afternoon, relax, swim or talk with your Iban boatmen through your guide about the endless tales of their life history. Return to the Longhouse for dinner and overnight. [Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]

Day 3: Breakfast in the longhouse. Pack and return to Kuching via the same way with lunch en-route, possibly at a recreational park overlooking a scenic waterfall ambience. Arrive Kuching by late afternoon. [Breakfast & Lunch]
